I noticed this verse on my calendar this morning, and it really took me aback. No truer statement has ever been spoken. God has been so unbelievable to us the past few years, and even though my faith has wavered multiple times His faith in me has not. On Tuesday, December 20, Ann Trotter is going to make her debut into this world, and I am so thankful. I have never been more excited and scared and anxious and completely emotional as I am right now. Today is my last day of work, and I am glad to have a couple of days to wrap things up. I cannot wait to meet this little girl but I'm thankful to have a couple of days to myself. I'm excited about all of my family and friends meeting her and showing her all of the love that they have showed me over the years. I'm so thankful for all of them. Welcome to the world, Ann Trotter. We all love you more than you will ever know.

Pineapple

We have 7 weeks left, people! I'm surprised by how quickly it's flown by. Ann Trotter is moving and grooving like crazy and is the size of a pineapple.

A pineapple? How in the world can I have something the size of a pineapple inside of me? It's amazing what my body has done over the past few months.

In other news, the nursery is almost done so ATA will have a place to sleep. I'll post pics when it's complete. I don't like showing things that are in progress; that's just my weirdness coming out.

I hope to get to meet Ann Trotter's newest friend Alex in the next few weeks! I can't wait for them to grow up together. They are going to be such cute little girls.

As most of you know I've been stressing and contemplating and fretting over The Bit's name for weeks/months now. I don't want to give her something trendy, I want to use a family name, I don't want her to hate me or her name when she's older, I don't want her to get made fun of, etc., etc., etc. Cliff has been asking me non-stop what we are going to call her and for the longest time I just told him that I didn't know. Well, all that changed yesterday. Thanks to my dear friend Jessica (who gave me a deadline; she knows I work much better under deadlines) I decided yesterday that my baby girl will be called Ann Trotter Agnew. Yep, I'm going old school Southern with a double family name, and I love it! I even cried when I called Jess to let her know (it may also have had something to do with the fact that we were watching The Office rerun where Jim & Pam get married. Who knows?). I think I freaked Jess out a little... Cliff kept saying her name over and over again to my tummy and Ann Trotter started kicking up a storm! So I guess she approves... Can't wait to meet her!!

It's anybody's guess!

Yes, you guessed correctly - we are expecting our first little bundle of joy in December! I'm at the halfway point so we are beyond excited. We tried to find out the sex of The Bit (as we are lovingly calling the baby) at our last doctor's appointment, but he/she wouldn't cooperate. He/she is definitely her father's child... and I say that with love in my heart! We go back next week to try again. Hopefully we'll have a different result this time.

Obviously, things have been really busy around our house lately, so my apologies in the severe lack of posting. Cliff graduated from Mississippi College Law School and has been studying for the Bar since May. The last day of testing is today!! Whoo HOO!!

After graduation, we took a week off for our first "Katy & Cliff" trip since before law school. We went down to the beach and did NOTHING until Friday. Then we helped our friends Joe & Laura celebrate their wedding in Watercolor. It was fantastic!

Temporary wallpaper! Excuse me? I normally would shudder at the thought of putting up wallpaper anywhere in my house. After trying to peel wallpaper off of my bathroom walls only to find 3 MORE layers of wallpaper (probably dating back to the origination of my house in 1958), I vowed NEVER to put anymore wallpaper in any room in any house that I ever owned. Well, you know what they say - never say never. What do you think?

Good morning fellow bloggers!

Long time, no blog, I know... However, things have been busy around the Agnew house. Cliff's had school and the MS 150, and I've had work and Jr. League stuff. And Mo has been making sure that the house is secure by setting up his perimeter of friends around the backyard.

Needless to say we haven't had much time for other things.

Since we haven't had much time lately, I have been neglecting myself. I decided this week that I'm tired of being tired and not making time for myself. I started Weight Watchers back and plan on getting back into exercising. In honor of my dear friend and co-worker Sally Black's last day at the Sun (and to help me stick to my "life-style" change), I made a Breakfast Casserole WW style.

WW Breakfast Casserole - 6 pts. (if I figured correctly)

1 package of low fat sausage (either Jimmy Dean or Hillshire Farms)
Eggbeaters - equivalent of 6 eggs
2 cups skim milk
4 slices of bread, torn
about a T of syrup
1 cup 2% sharp cheddar

Brown sausage. Place in Pyrex. Mix bread, eggbeaters, syrup, and milk together. Pour over sausage. Top with cheese. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes covered and then 15 minutes uncovered.

So in only 3 more days I'll turn 30! I'm making a bucket list of sorts for year #30 and I need your help. To start, I'm going to lose the weight I've put on since Cliff and I got married. It's not a ton but I'm going to get back to what it was if it kills me. What would you like to see me do in my 30th year?

So I've been M.I.A. for a few weeks now so I apologize. I was doing so good for a while... I'll get back on track at some point.

We've had a lot going on in our little world lately... Through all of it I would like to say how awesome my hubby is! The last weekend in June, he took me on an extremely last minute vacay to the Beau Rivage for a little R&R. We left Saturday morning and made it to Ocean Springs for lunch. This was the first time I had ever been to Ocean Springs and I am in love! The downtown area has some great shopping, restaurants, bars, etc. and I told Cliff I wouldn't mind living there. The live oak trees were unbelievable!!

The Bay Collection is one of my new favorite shops! The staff is extremely nice and talkative and they bring their pup to work. Big plus for me!! I really hate that I missed their 50% off anniversary sale last weekend...

After shopping, we met up with our friend Mason at the local favorite pub, Kwitzky's Dugout. The World Cup was in full swing and US was playing. IT WAS INSANE! I was one of 3 girls in the entire place and everybody had a vuvuzela (horn). Talk about annoying after a bit... Next we venture to another bar about 1/2 a block down to catch up with Nathan and Laura. It was so great to see old friends!!

We were having such a great time that we forgot to go check into the hotel! Whoops!! We showed up to the Beau about 7 pm, and we got in line at the check-in desk. Word to the wise - be nice to those ladies/gentleman. There was a guy in front of us that was being extremely rude and she had a scowl on her face when we walked up. Cliff worked his magic and wah lah - we were upgraded to a SUITE!! Of course I was so excited I forgot to take pictures but look at the site to see more. All I can say is that we had 2 FULL bathrooms...

We had a fantastic dinner at Mary Mahoney's that night. We were 2 of the last tables in the restaurant and could have stayed all night! The stuffed snapper is to die for...

We ate so much that we went straight back to our room and went to bed. The next morning we got a late check-out and hit the pool. I want to take a girls overnight trip just for the pool. You can rent the cabanas by the day which is great for the whitest white girl (aka me).

All in all, it was a great last minute getaway! I was so glad for a break from the real world, even if for just a few hours. Can't wait to get away again!!

It's Friday again and that means time for your random Fun Fact!

I've been thinking a lot about the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico lately, as I'm sure you all have. I cannot imagine the absolute destruction that it must be doing to all of the water and wildlife in the area. It really breaks my heart when I see the pictures of the birds and fish covered in oil, and I must admit I've shed a couple of tears here and there.
I've also thought about how far the oil will go... Since we all know that oil floats on top of water, I started thinking about the depth of the Gulf of Mexico. According to www.gulfbase.org, "the Sigsbee Deep, located in the southwestern quadrant, is the deepest region of the Gulf of Mexico. Its exact maximum depth is controversial, and reports by different authors state maximum depths ranging from 3,750 m to 4,384 m." That's 12,303 to 14,383 feet, folks!!! I don't know about you but I definitely don't want to ever go down that far in the ocean (even if we could)...

I don't know about you, but I love the T.V. show Pawn Stars. I love to see the objects that people want to sell or pawn and learn all of the history behind the objects. I also love to see them bartering back and forth on price. Earlier in the week, they showed a rerun of one with a Louis Vuitton trunk. It had all kinds of stickers on it from various trips all over the world. I always thought I might be a world traveler with a trunk that had worldly stickers all over it.

Fun Fact for you - Did you know that Louis Vuitton began in 1854 and is one of the oldest luggage lines in the world?

As most of you know, I am a Harry Potter fanatic! I have read all 7 books (most of them twice) and own all of the movies that are out. When I heard a rumor that a theme park was being opened, I immediately started to research. Much to my excitement I learned that the Wizarding World of Harry Potter would open in 2010!!

Even though the actual opening is not until June 18, my dear friend Mary Straton was actually able to be one of the first to visit Harry's world this week! I sent her a text asking about it, and this was the response (and I quote): "Omgomgomgomg it was AMAZING!!" Since they were the first group in they couldn't take any pictures. Sad for KT but hopefully I'll be able to visit Harry soon. Here's to June 18!

Since this past weekend was SO COLD I decided to warm up the house with 2 big pots of red beans and rice and some great friends. Thanks to everybody from coming over and sharing in the feast!

Thanks to sweet Jess for all of our new scarves!! We were all tickled with them.

He's going to hate me for that one day... Happy January everybody! Here's an easy recipe to start the year off right!

Yummy Red Beans and Rice:

2 cans light red kidney beans
1 can diced tomatoes
1 pack Conechua sausage, chopped
1 yellow onion, chopped
minced garlic
1 bay leaf
Louisiana hot sauce to taste (it's the only hot sauce that tastes right in this)
salt & pepper

Dump it all in a big pot (do not drain the beans) and let it cook for at least an hour. The longer it cooks/sits, the better it tastes! Serve over rice with toppings of onions, tomatoes, and cheese and with salad and bread. Serves 6. Enjoy!

I had my first trip to Greenwood to celebrate our 4th anniversary, my 29th birthday and for Cliff to ride his bike. It was all complete with a stay at the Alluvian, girlie time (aka pedicure and shopping) with one of my favorite girls Del, and yummy food at the Alluvian, Delta Bistro, Steven's BBQ, and Luscos. I even got a birthday surprise from the Alluvian with a bottle of my favorite dressing - Comeback! It makes everything taste better... Here are a few pics to recap our stay... At Lusco's... I CANNOT tell you how fired up I am about Harry Potter tonight! My sweet hubby and dear friends Mary Straton and John are flying to the movie theater to see the magic of the 6th installment of Harry Potter. I was first introduced to HP when Cliff had to read the first book for his English Lit class in college. He drug me to the first movie and like magic I was hooked. For our 7th dating anniversary, he bought the 6th book for me and I read it on our honeymoon. This book has some significant meaning to me because of when I read it. I can't wait to see how the movie compares!! For all you Muggles out there, get ready to fill your life with the magic of Harry, Ron, Hermione, Dumbledore and the others as they continue to battle the ultimate evil villain Voldemort...

Yesterday was such a wild day at work, so I was thrilled to have 2 huge blessings come my way! First, my daddy called right after lunch to let me know that my Auntie Dee's cancer HAS GONE AWAY!!! I am absolutely thrilled because she is one of my favorite people in this world! Lots of prayers have been answered... Please see below from a post from cousin Fran:

Oh the nerves of today. Mom had her PET scan last Thursday, June 11th, and we were to report to Dr. S's office this morning. At that point, Dr. S. would tell us what the PET scan revealed and whether or not Mom was going to undergo the last two rounds of Rituxin and Fluderabine, the first of which put her in the ER on Mother's Day, followed by a three night's stay at Baptist. Yeah, we were nervous. I wish we could have taken some of the pills pictured above. A good dose of sanity would have been nice.Mom's nurse took us back to a treatment room, so we figured the cancer was still there and settled in. Mom reminded the nurse that we haven't yet seen the results of the PET scan, so the nurse disappeared to find Dr. S, only to reappear 15 minutes later to take us to a consultation room. Soon Dr. S. came in to say Mom's PET scans were NEGATIVE. As in, NO MORE CANCER IS PREVALENT IN THE SCAN. Woot! At this point I'm going to dog-cuss the protocol of doctors today. Not the doctors themselves - they're awesome - but the bureaucracy of it makes me crazy. I understand that everybody must follow the rules and that we live in the most litigious state of America. But really. This is stuff the guy doing the scan on THURSDAY could have told us. Grr.Anyway, the negative doesn't mean that Mom is completely cancer free, and chances are very good (almost positive) that her lymphoma will come back. But for now she is free and clear and doesn't have to worry about anything cancer-related until her next PET scan in October. I think quarterly PETS are going to become a way of life, but as long as it's not chemo, Mom's happy.Thank you for all your prayers, thoughts, and support. It worked.

On top of that wonderful news, I also got some great news that my dear friend Amy is going to have a little baby!! I'm so thrilled and now that Amy and Justin will make fabulous parents. The funniest thing is that they found out on the Thursday before we saw them on Friday. I noticed that she wasn't drinking any wine at dinner but I just thought she prefered red over white. :) Shows how much intuition I have, huh?

I tend to kill anything that's green. However, I've kept the plant that came from my Granddaddy's house alive for quite some time, so Cliff and I figured we needed to spruce up the backyard for the summer. Cliff and good buddy Rob spent all Friday and Saturday building an arbor and hanging my swing that my sweet parents gave us. I spent all Saturday looking for plants, pots and potting soil. Thanks to Cliff's dear Aunt Muffett (for all of the many times I called her on Saturday and her guidance), we now have a beautiful backyard that we can enjoy!

Happy St. Paddy's Day!!

Being the good Irish girl I am, I proudly wore my green today in honor of the patron Saint Patrick. We Flynns take great pride in being Irish and proudly display it (however, I haven't done a very good job this year). I even had the Irish blessing printed on my wedding programs:

May the road rise up to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
and the rains fall softly on your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Though I've never been to Ireland I love it! I even told Cliff this morning that I hope to take my dad to Ireland one day to find our roots. My great, great (maybe one more great, can't remember) grandfather was an O'Flynn until he was excommunicated from the Catholic church when he joined a band of gypsies (or circus, I've heard both versions) and moved to America. On of my great-grandfathers was even the Duke of Ireland and we supposedly have a castle over there somewhere. Who knows which one it is or if there even still is one? Even so, I love the fact that I'm Irish and happily celebrate this day each year!

Here are 17 facts my friend Mary Staton shared on her blog about St. Patrick’s Day (courtesy of Wikipedia):

1. St. Patrick was one of the patron saints of Ireland. He died on March 17, 461.

2. If St. Patrick’s Day falls on a Friday of Lent (unless it’s Good Friday), the obligation to abstain from eating meat can be lifted by the local bishop.

3. St. Patrick's Blue, not green, was the color long-associated with St. Patrick.

4. Due to the rich history of Scranton participation in St. Patrick's Day festivities it is one of the oldest and most populated parades in the United States. (wonder if Jim and Pam will attend?)

5. The world’s shortest parade is the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Hot Springs, Arkansas, taking place on what Ripley’s Believe it or Not has designated the “Shortest Street in the World.”

6. It was only in the mid-1990s that the Irish government began a campaign to use Saint Patrick's Day to showcase Ireland and its culture. (what took you guys so long?)

7. St. Patrick used the shamrock, a three-leaved plant, to explain the Holy Trinity to the pre-Christian Irish.

14. The Washington Nationals have fan green hat day on September 17 to represent 6 months to St. Patrick's Day.

15. Savannah, GA, boasts the unofficial largest attendance with 750,000 in 2006. (I wonder where Jackson fits in?)

16. The tiny island of Montserrat, known as "Emerald Island of the Caribbean" due to its foundation by Irish refugees from Saint Kitts and Nevis, is the only place in the world apart from Ireland and the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador in which St Patrick's Day is a public holiday.

17. Some groups, notably Guinness, have lobbied to make Saint Patrick's Day a federal (national) holiday. (Woo hoo!!)

Believe it or not, I did not get any pictures at Christmas! I'm so disappointed in myself, but what am I going to do now. Here's the breakdown though:

Tuesday, December 23 - We went to Canton for the annual Christmas Eve's Eve/Brunswick Stew party at Cliff's cousin Mary's house. All of Cliff's extended family (and I"m talking 5th and 5th cousins here) comes into town every year for this shindig. Tons of fun!
Wednesday, December 24 - I was off work all day but that didn't stop me from working on things around my house. That night we went back to Canton for church with Jim Bob & Laura and then over to Cushion's (Cliff's grandmother for those of you who don't know) house for supper. Then out to the Dowdles for their annual Christmas Eve visit.
Thursday, December 25 - Yay for Christmas Day! We woke up about 6:30 am to open our presents and headed back to Canton at 8. Opened presents with Cliff's family, ate breakfast at Cushion's, visited with the Mosbys, back to Cushions for lunch and family gift time. We then came back to Jackson to see Mo for a bit (and let me get a nap) and then went back Canton for Dowdle Family Christmas that night. A very fun tradition that we don't miss (unless we are out of town).
Friday, December 26 - Again I am off of work (woo hoo!) and we go back to Canton for Agnew Family Christmas at Alan & Tom's house. Very fun! I especially like it because that's one of the only Dirty Santa games I enjoy. And they play dirty...
Saturday, December 27 - Flynn Family Christmas AT MY HOUSE! My parents and sister came to town that afternoon, and then the rest of the family came on that night. It was great to have everybody over!

Whew! What a Christmas! I wouldn't have traded it for the world and we were especially blessed to have all of our family and friends so close. Here's to 2009!

The End of 2008... The Beginning of 2009

All I can say is "Whew!" I cannot believe that 2008 is already over and 2009 is beginning. Cliff, Mo and I hope that all of you had a very Merry Christmas. We definitely did! We were so blessed with a family and friend filled Christmas that I was worn out by the end of it. I have some individual posts to catch you up on the Agnews!

Thanks to my dear friend Sally who tagged me as one of her most Kreativ Bloggers! Sally, I have been working on this all week... I don't think I am very interesting. Basically, the award requires that you blog 6 interesting facts about yourself and then tag 6 friends to do the same!

So here are some interesting facts about me:

1. I have really weird knees. They hyperextend (bend backwards more than they should). I'll show you some time.

2. I have a really, really weird eye trick. My eyes can roll so far back in my head that you can't see the pupils. Sometimes I can even get them to go opposite ways...

3. I'm double jointed in my wrists so my fingers can touch my forearms.

4. Ok, so I'm in an arranged marriage... Our grandparents were best friends. My dad and Cliff's mom grew up together. My dad and his dad were roommates in college. Do you think they planned this? ha ha!

5. My secret wish is... to be on BROADWAY! The bad part of that wish is I can't sing very well and I really can't dance either.

6. My other secret wish is... to be the First Lady of MS or the US! If that ever happens we're having a sleepover in the Governor's Mansion/White House!

I know, I know... It's been a while and you've probably stopped checking this thing. Well, we've been a little busy. Cliff's been in the middle of mid-terms so he's studying like CRAZY! Any extra minutes he has I want to spend with him, so I haven't posted in a while.

A few weekends ago Cliff and I headed to Tupelo for my 10 year high school reunion. It's crazy to think that I've been out of high school for 10 YEARS!!! It doesn't seem like that long but at the same time it seems like it's been forever. It was good to see all of my old classmates, and catch up with those that I haven't seen since we graduated. Best of all I got to see my BFF Becky, hubby Mark and son Asher! I was very excited about getting to see them since it's been about 6 months... :) Time flies... Here are a few pics from the weekend:

I'm a bad blogger... It's been over a month and I have not posted a THING! However, Cliff and I have been busy little bees. Cliff quit his job, we have been on vacation (a week in San Fran and Sonoma; beautiful!), Cliff started law school, my business has picked back up (praise the good Lord!), we hosted a baby shower, finished a deck, ran a race, and I started my Jr. League project. So what have you been up to, hmmm? :) Anyway, I will blog more about my adventures (and misadventures) soon and hopefully have pics to go along with my vacation blog. Hope all of my blogger buddies are doing well!

There are several reason I love July 4th...

1. We get to celebrate the independence of our country (I"m proud to be an American!)
2. We get to eat yummy food (aka - watermelon and hot dogs)
3. We get a day off work
4. Cliff and I started dating on the 4th back in 1998. I cannot believe it has been 10 years but it has definitely been fun and interesting.

Now I have a new reason to celebrate: I finished my first 5K! It wasn't my best time but I finished... I will definitely continue to run and plan to run this race every year. I hope you all had wonderful 4ths!

The one where I run

OK... Please say lots of prayers for me tomorrow. I am running my first 5K! For some of you, a 5K is not a big deal, but for me it's a HUMONGOUS deal... Cliff and I started training back in the spring and he has already run 1 and done a triathlon. I'm more of a chicken. I was supposed to run the same one that he ran a few weeks ago but got sick. Talk about disappointed! Anyway, wish me luck and say lots of prayers! I'm a little on the nervous side... I'll post pictures when I get done. :)

OK, so I know it's been a while... Sally just fussed at me about it. Things have been as crazy as ever in the Agnew house. We are getting ready to build a deck (for fabulous summer parties that you are all invited to), get a new roof and decking on our house, maybe completely redo the plumbing (because the water pressure stinks!), and possibly get a new air conditioner (since we cannot keep our house cool). So if you want some deck experience, come help us! There will be steaks and cold beer at the end...

By the way, a little 411 for y'all... I took Mo walking on Sunday afternoon, and he started limping on Monday morning. By the end of the day he coudn't put any weight on his foot. I took him into to vet Tuesday morning and his little paws got burned on the asphalt from our walk on Sunday. Lesson learned... The vet said to make sure if you walk your animals to do it in the morning or evening when it starts to cool off. I felt like such a bad mother, but who would have thought that his paws would be burned?

Anyway, hope this finds all of you well. I promise to try to do better about posting. Maybe next time I'll add pictures. Take care and hope to see all of you soon!

The one with a realization

I was drying my hair on Friday, and I happened to look over a wall hanging in my bathroom. It has the ABCs of life on it, and C was Count Your Blessings. As long as I have had that wall hanging, I've never noticed this part of it. It got me to thinking about all of the blessings in my life, and I realized I have nothing in this world to complain about. I have a wonderful husband, dog and family that I could not live without. I have friends that love, support and stand beside me in any situation. I have a house to give me shelter, food to fill up my tummy, clothes so y'all don't have to see my naked body, and so many other things that make my life easy. There is so much for me to be grateful for and I have so many blessings in my life that I take for granted every day. God is so GOOD! In fact, He is so GREAT! So I challenge you to take time to count your blessings and thank God for each and every one of them every day! It's something so simple but can make your day so much better...
